![]() Through the massive ebbs and flows of partisan politics over the last 4 decades, the State Senate has been under unbroken Republican control. and the State House has gone 22R-15D-2years tied. ![]() During those same years, Michigan has had Governors 20 years R to 19D. February 1984 to January 2023! This is a 39 year period. Republicans have controlled the Senate ever since. A year later, Dem Senators Phil Mastin and David Serotkin were recalled and Republicans were elected to replace them in Feb. The last Democratically-controlled Senate was elected in 1982, the year Gov. That body has been under uninterrupted Republican control since February of 1984 and is expected to remain so until at least January of 2023. I wish to bring to your attention, the extraordinary history of the Michigan State Senate over the last 39 years.
